A business built on passion

Wiremill Academy is a performing arts business built around a love of music and performance. Its incredible founders already had a great reputation and a strong business focusing on voice lessons and theatre workshops and classes. Covid came as a challenge and coincided with two of the original founders moving away. With the break in continuity that came as a result Wiremill needed a boost to it’s digital presence so that people could see the same energy, professionalism and personal touch that students experienced in its classes.

The aim wasn't to reinvent the business -the business was already amazing. It was to create a website that would support its next chapter, making it easier for prospective students and their families to discover classes, understand what was on offer and take the next step.

Making the experience simpler

The existing website was outdated, clunky, and difficult to navigate, so a key priority was to create a more seamless journey from initial interest to enrolment. I designed and built a new Squarespace website that showcased the academy's classes and personality while connecting with its existing scheduling and booking system. This meant visitors could explore the different opportunities available, find the classes that suited them and move easily towards signing up.

Behind the scenes, the website also needed to be straightforward for the owner to manage, allowing her to make updates independently as the academy's schedule and offerings developed.

The result was a site designed to work hard and look good.

A website with personality

For a performing arts academy, the website needed to communicate more than practical information - It also had to capture the energy, creativity ,and sense of belonging that make Wiremill so special. So I brought together engaging imagery, clear navigation and accessible content to create a welcoming digital home. The finished design balanced personality with practicality.

Supporting the next chapter

The new website gave Wiremill Academy a stronger platform for attracting students, promoting classes and managing enquiries. By connecting the public-facing website with the booking process, it helped remove unnecessary steps for families and made the experience more straightforward for everyone involved.

Just as importantly, it gave the owner greater independence over her digital presence — a flexible platform she could continue to develop alongside the business.

The feedback was particularly rewarding as the owner described the new website as having revolutionised her business. Honestly I’m pretty sure that was mainly just her - she is pretty incredible - but the website definitely smoothed things and made it easier for people to discover and book with her. For me that's the real measure of successful website design - not simply creating something attractive, but building something that makes a meaningful difference to the people using it.

The bigger picture

Wiremill Academy demonstrates what can happen when thoughtful design meets a clear understanding of how a business actually operates. The result wasn't just a new website. It was a practical, welcoming and adaptable digital platform designed to help an established creative business continue to grow.
